Ugh. Why?

Summer is just about here and the plants are going wild. All over the southern Kenai Peninsula, lupines are taking over. They are dotted along every road and gorgeous meadow. While foraging for spruce tips, I came along blueberry bushes filled with young berries, violets, strawberry blossoms, and something pink with a leaf kind of like a strawberry...I have to look that one up. Some of the joys and excitement of moving to a new place. So in the middle of all this beauty, what is River eating now you ask? Grass. I know that's not exciting by any means, but lately she has been eating plenty of grass to help deal with her upset stomach.
Our dear, sweet River has been acting out because we do not have the time or energy to pet her every waking minute. This is a list of things River has eaten in the past week and these are just the things I know about:
-A small packet of spam
-Some sort of crispy bean snack, hot buffalo flavor
-cardboard
-cat treats
-cat poop
-shredded a pack of the liners for my tortilla press
Now you may be wondering why all of this stuff is accessible to our dog. Well, we're human, and also we are still in the process of unpacking from our big move. Now you also may be wondering why we leave River alone so long. Well, we don't. Just today, I looked her right in the eye and said, "Will you please be good while I go to the post office? I need to drop off an order. This is important. I will only be gone 15 minutes, tops." I was only gone a total of 10 minutes. Was she good? That would be a big ol' NOPE. Granted, she only chewed on some cardboard this time, but still. Naughty little River just wants to act out the minute we leave the house. It doesn't matter how much we throw the ball for her first or pet her. We're trying to be good paw-rents, but good grief.
